Bringing personal features in Microsoft Teams to desktop and web—now available in preview

Since the outbreak of COVID-19, it has become difficult for many of us to balance various aspects of our lives. Whether it’s our jobs, teaching our kids at home, or arranging virtual get-togethers with friends, managing all of this on a daily basis can be stressful. As a result, the tools that help us stay on track and allow time for recharging are becoming increasingly important. Since we’ve expanded Microsoft Teams outside of work and school and announced a preview of personal features in the Teams mobile app, I’ve found it helpful to organize and plan activities in my daily life. From using Tasks to track my shopping list to scheduling virtual birthday celebrations, Teams has become the all-in-one hub for organizing my personal life.

Today, we’re excited to announce a preview of more new Personal Features in Teams that will make managing and planning your days easier. To get started, you can now add your personal Teams account on the web or desktop app to chat or call friends and family. With group chatting and video calling now available on both desktop and mobile devices, connecting and organizing with your loved ones will be easier than ever, especially as the holidays approach. We are also adding new preview features in the Teams mobile app, such as the ability to chat with friends or family who don’t have Teams on their phones 1, location alerts that notify you when someone leaves or arrives at certain locations 2, and a plus.
